KADOTA
Lincoln Center, The Junior Associates of the MoMA (New York, November 2019)

After receiving support from overseas collectors and friends, I was able to hold my first-ever solo exhibition in New York. 12 large-scale pieces from my recent work were displayed at the Lincoln Center in conjunction with MoMA’s Junior Associates Program for one day only. I named the show “KADOTA,” dropping my first name, as a way to both emphasize the anxiety I feel around my identity as well as to signify a new beginning in a new city. Cody Franchetti, the nephew of Cy Twombly, commented on the show saying, “Kadota’s pieces are polychromatic but come together as a single, chromatic concept.”
