Mellow Mart

Growing up in a rural area with limited forms of entertainment, visiting the local candy store was one of my simple pleasures.

After school, my childhood friends and I would buy chewing gum or chocolates there and play until dusk. It was a regular routine for my grandfather to send me on errands, letting me keep the change as a reward. I also fondly remember Muku, a gentle white dog at the store, who was strangely attached to me.

Among my many memories, the candy store was a place where I could get not only snacks and toys but also stationery. Whenever I used my pocket money to buy a slightly nicer sheet of drawing paper to draw a picture, it felt like a special moment. It may actually be thanks to this ordinary candy store that I first encountered the act of "creating" as a young child.

Just as I once received a tiny spark in that place, perhaps this exhibition will also quietly connect to someone’s future. I would be truly delighted to be a part of that continuous thread.
