幼い頃、娯楽と呼べるようなものが、決して多くない田舎に育った僕にとって、駄菓子屋に足を運ぶことが、ささやかな楽しみの一つでした。 

学校が終わると幼馴染たちと、そこでガムやチョコレートを買っては、日が暮れるまで遊びました。祖父にお使いを頼まれては、お釣りをお駄賃としてもらうのはいつもの事でしたし、お店にはムクという白い穏やかな犬がいて、不思議と僕に懐いていたことなども覚えています。 

様々な思い出がある中で、駄菓子屋は、お菓子や玩具だけでなく、文房具も手に入る場所でした。お小遣いで、少しちゃんとした画用紙を買って絵を描くとき、それは何か特別な瞬間であるような気がしていました。幼い僕が「創作をする」ということに出会えたのも、実はこの変哲のない駄菓子屋のおかげだったのかもしれません。 

かつて僕がこの場所で、小さな小さなきっかけを受け取っていたように、今回の展示もまた、ひょっとしたら誰かの未来へと静かにつながっていく。そんな連なりの一部となれたなら、とても嬉しく思います。
