TRICKSTER
Sezon Museum of Modern Art Tokyo office SMMA FACTORY (Tokyo, September 2005)
This was my debut exhibition which took place in a large Tokyo gallery space. As someone who has been an eccentric since childhood, once I entered art school I decided to harness the restrictions I felt, and used my absurd, almost jester-like sensibilities as an inspiration for my artistic process and expression. My vision–which at times struggles to resonate with the average audience–fortunately caught the eyes of the Sezon Museum of Modern Art, leading to a solo exhibition opportunity at Tokyo’s SMMA FACTORY. Feeling an urge to change the circumstances around me, as well as a spirit of challenge, I named the exhibition TRICKSTER after characters that bring about great change through seemingly meaningless actions.
