Tokijiku Paintings
M-Gallery (Tochigi, July 2018)
In this exhibition, I further expanded on the Straw series where I revise old pieces and assign new value to them. The idea for this exhibition came to me when I was using the latest pearlescent paint that had a kind of coloring that felt classical rather than contemporary. This strange sensation I felt of time reversing and connecting once again prompted me to title the show Tokijiku after an old Japanese word that means “transcending time”.
