COME TOGETHER side two
SEZON ART SHOP (Yokohama, November 2022)
What is common to my expression up until today is that I paint art using various sides to myself, in saying which I think that the various changes and the number of artworks that I have created using various expressions are like an accumulation whereby I have been groping to find myself from various aspects. In the latter half of "side two", I decided that my artwork "Crossing" from 2005 would be exhibited in the hotel lobby window together with more recent artworks as well as new artworks. This artwork was painted on a canvas which I had bought at considerable effort (due to my poor English) from an art supply store in New York called Pearl Paint, and for me it is a commemorative artwork from when I exhibited it in my first solo exhibition "TRICKSTER" at the Tokyo gallery of the Sezon Museum of Modern Art. This is an artwork that can be described as being the beginning of my use of various styles using acrylic paint. I would like viewers to enjoy the interaction and overlap between the past and the present together with my latest artworks which try to connect the relationship between parts and the whole, and connect the different sides. In any event, I hope that the two sessions of side one and side two will provide an opportunity to enable me to introduce at least a little bit of my transition through various approaches to my “disorganization," and at the same time, I hope that I will be able to convey my consistent stance of pursuing an exploration of color and brushwork, or rather their integration.
