Imaginary

MARUEIDO JAPAN (Tokyo, October 2021)

Which is more beautiful or ugly, red or blue? This is something we can’t decide. Or the hierarchy between East and West and between mind and matter, and also their strengths, these things cannot be compared in concrete terms. Things that at first glance appear to be opposites actually have a connection, or may not be grasped by one sided aspects alone. “To see it, is to close your eyes.” These are the words of Wols written by Mr. Mimura of M-gallery at the end of my second collection of art. The oneness that is reflected in the eyes of many is not always real or correctIn order to capture what can be called “beautiful things" or “boring things", the ability to close one’s eyes and imagine is essential. I believe that in order to see a scene beyond an image or preconception, including the past, the background, and its cause and effect, unexpected uncertainty in a different place is rather important.
